Group Project – to construct and test an electronic circuit or system on proto-board, strip-board and Printed Circuit Board (PCB). Group size typically 3-4 students.Group report (2000 words total – equal contribution from all group members).

1) Group technical report with minutes in an appendix (10%). Approximately 500 words/ student.2) Group presentation (10%) - individual student commitment 2 notional hours.3) Individual learning log (6%) - individual student commitment 2 notional hours.

Assessment 1: Written Assignment

Taught material will contribute an element every week to the SAIL programme (Score As I Learn) submitted via the VLE platform. 11 x 15 minutes weekly assignments. Each assignment will be worth 3%. Taking the best 8 out of 11 scores.

<p>In this module, you will be introduced to the fabrication, design and testing of electronic circuits and circuit boards. You will cover how to interpret circuit diagrams, build physical prototypes and use laboratory instruments to test the circuits. You will also learn interpretation of datasheets, identification of maximum ratings, test conditions and performance limits. You will work in a group to design a working prototype from your own project ideas so that you experience all the stages involved in producing a working electronic product.</p>
