This module aims to enhance your understanding of the physiological processes that occur acutely and chronically during and following an exercise bout, as well as throughout a training programme. This includes resistance, aerobic and anaerobic training, in adults and children/adolescent athletes. The influence of the environment on physiological processes acutely and during training will also be covered.

Critically appraise the research literature relating to the physiology of sports performance, including the ability to effectively search databases for appropriate journal articles and follow Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) Guidelines.

Critically evaluate how physiological processes are influenced by exercise, and how they might contribute to performance.

Critically appraise the physiological mechanisms and adaptations that underpin effective training prescription.

Critically evaluate the influence of environmental factors on physiological processes and adaptations.
