Synopsis

This module presents a theoretical and legislative framework for the understanding of natural and man-made disasters. It pulls together emergency planning, business continuity, crisis management and disaster recovery and introduces the skills and knowledge required for effective management in a crisis.

The syllabus will be delivered through a combination of lectures and seminars. Seminars will incorporate case studies, role play and emergency planning simulations. On successful completion of this module students will

Critically appraise policies and plans in place to undertake leadership roles in a with humanitarian, disaster or emergency situation.

Critically debate humanitarian, disaster or emergency management strategies and terminologies used in major incident management.
3.
Formulate a disaster and emergency management plan incorporating disruptive challenges to the environments.
4.
Plan business, regional or community continuity in the event of disruption.
