HHB1052 - Psychology of Education

This module takes a critically reflective approach to the theories and practices of education, seeking to understand the mechanisms of enablement and disablement in education from a lifelong learning perspective. You will explore the complex factors which interact to construct learning, and will critically examine theory and practice within the context of these factors.
In this module you will explore and evaluate psychological theories as they apply to the educational setting. In addition, you will explore the practices which underpin educational settings and their relationships to psychological models. Taking a critical approach, you will examine a range of learning theories with reference to practices in schools and in adult education environments, and explore and evaluate the utility of theory in assisting the design and maintenance of educational institutions and policies with particular reference to the experiences of learners.
