Assessment 1: Practical Skills Assessment

Through practical sessions you’ll examine current physiotherapeutic treatment, rehabilitation and electrophysical modalities. You’ll also study how to deliver treatments safely and effectively. This module relates to current treatment, rehabilitation and electrophysical modalities used in the management of patient care. You will develop safe and effective application of modalities and offer an informed choice of use. You will also gain a broad appreciation of the current literature in physiotherapy practice underpinning these treatment techniques and increase your understanding of pain concepts to help develop your management of an injured client.
During this module you will undertake 170 hours of clinical practice. You will develop knowledge and non-clinical skills in managing patients within this environment. You will assess and reflect upon a physiotherapist’s role in contributing to a holistic approach to patient care.

Compulsory for eligibility to apply for registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and eligibility to apply for membership of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy.

Demonstrate professional conduct and evidence of competency across the 5 key areas of clinical practice.

Apply practical competency in the administration of therapeutic modalities within the scope of a Physiotherapist.

Devise and justify treatment regimens according to client needs and analyse their effectiveness.
