HMB2020 - Psychology of Education

The complex factors which interact to construct learning will be explored, using a mix of psychological theories and their influence on educational policy in schools and on further and higher education. You&#39;ll be supported to develop an understanding of how different people are enabled and disabled, in participating in learning and education.
This module seeks to explore and evaluate psychological theories as they apply to the educational setting. In addition, the module seeks to explore the practices which underpin educational settings and their relationships to psychological models. Taking a critical approach, the module will examine a range of learning theories with reference to practices in schools and in adult education environments. The module will explore and evaluate the utility of theory in assisting the design and maintenance of educational institutions and policies with particular reference to the experiences of learners.
