Assessment 1: Project Work

A detailed study focussing on an individual learner with a specific SEND, which demonstrates how the organisation supports their education, care and health needs through the management of the learning environment, in relation to an appropriate curriculum framework. It should include ongoing monitoring, assessment and planning to meet individual needs. It should explore partnership working, both within the organisation and with others including external agencies as appropriate, and families. The role of the SEND support worker will be evaluated.

Project Work

<p>You will study current policy and legislation relating to supporting learners with specific SEND conditions in a range of educational contexts. You will explore the roles of education practitioners and other specialists, working together to identify and support learners’ individual needs, evaluating theoretical approaches to multi-agency working, communication and team working skills, and the development of positive relationships with parents/carers. You will identify learning needs arising from specific SEND conditions and explore their implications for pedagogic practice and support strategies and interventions.</p>

Critically evaluates how team working and organisational practice meets the needs of an individual learner.

Demonstrates an in-depth understanding of the role of collaborative working in supporting learners and their families.

Demonstrates critical knowledge and understanding of current policy and legislation relating to the support of learners with SEND.

Understands in depth how specific SEND conditions impact on an individual’s learning needs.

Demonstrates application of research, theories and principles in planning for the individual learning and development needs of learners. 

Demonstrates a critical understanding of pedagogic strategies and techniques that support individual learning and development needs.
