The module will develop a blended learning approach to the topic of protecting vulnerable children using a variety of media to support learning. This will include lectures, seminars, audio visual material, and the VLE.

Demonstrates in depth knowledge and critical understanding of the regulatory and legal framework for safeguarding and protecting children and young people.

Has a significant understanding of multi-disciplinary practice including how local multi-agency early help and assessment strategies work to safeguard children and young people.

Critical appreciation of the historical aspects of child abuse and contemporary social constructions in safeguarding children and young people.

Illustrates and evaluates the complex nature of supporting the child or young person and working with family, carers and other professionals.

Complies with practitioner responsibilities in the context of procedures and policies in contemporary safeguarding practice.
