You will take part in a discussion simulating a staff meeting about supporting positive behaviour for your chosen case study child or young person. You will discuss ideas about why the young person might be dysregulated, as well as techniques and strategies that might support more regulated and positive behaviour.

Policy Evaluation.  You will evaluate a behaviour policy from an education or care setting, provided by the module tutor. You will use theory to support your analysis.

Behaviour Support Plan. 
You will prepare a behaviour support plan for a child or young person in a chosen case study. This will include an outline of potential challenges and issues for the young person, as well as techniques to observe and analyse behaviour alongside suggested strategies for support.

<p>This module explores the context of and responses to a range of behaviours in educational settings.  Your understanding of different techniques that can be used to promote positive behaviours for learning and assist with school engagement will be developed. You will explore causes of challenging behaviour as well as the way that emotional and other difficulties are played out in one-to-one, small group encounters and whole class contexts. Specific behaviours associated with learning difficulties and disabilities will be identified and various strategies for inclusive practice analysed. You will also consider theoretical aspects of behaviour management. Your understanding will be assessed through the evaluation of a behaviour policy, a plan for supporting positive behaviour from a given case study and a discussion of key aspects of practice to support positive behaviour.</p>
