Assessment 1: Project Work

Development task: Individually design and develop a visual model of a Cyber Physical System. The learner will demonstrate their model to their tutor and report all design considerations and testing strategies employed, including any model optimisations that have been incorporated. Relevant model documentation is to be presented during the demonstration.

2 online 20 minute in-class tests, each worth 20% of the summative mark.

<p>This module will enable you to explore contemporary issues in relation to emerging technologies that can be used to realise Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS). CPS are collections of physical and software components that communicate and interact with users via networks. CPS extend the traditional capabilities of embedded systems by incorporating sensor networks and data services to enable previously disparate systems to become more integrated through ‘smart’ capabilities. You will have the opportunity to explore several application areas of CPS, including the Internet of Things (IoT), smart cities and digital manufacturing.</p>
