<p>This module is designed to critically evaluate consumption in the context of philosophy, society and culture, and in relation to broader contemporary sociocultural trends and issues. By adopting an interdisciplinary approach to the analysis of consumption, the module aims to develop students’ critical awareness of the interrelationships, consequences and tensions that exist between the consumer at the individual and collective level, as well as between the consumer, business, and government.</p>

Demonstrate subject-based practical and professional skills, be able to judge the ethical implications of business decisions and make contextually informed marketing decisions.

Analyse the benefits, problems and challenges that consumer society and culture present for business, policy makers and consumers. 

Critically apply concepts from a range of discipline perspectives to an analysis of contemporary organisational and consumer phenomena

Express, justify and communicate an individual perspective on complex business phenomena using philosophical, sociological and cultural perspectives.

Demonstrate a conceptual and critical understanding of philosophical, sociological and cultural scholarship in relation to current societal and business issues (such as sustainable consumption, consumer society and culture) and assess the roles and responsibilities of both organisations and individuals therein.
