Activities providing opportunities for formative assessment will generally be integrated into the teaching and learning process and apply to all components of summative assessment.  The nature of the formative assessment tasks used will be at the discretion of the tutor, to include for example, workshop exercises, quizzes, group discussions.

<p>Design for events will help your appreciation and understanding of design and creative thinking in the context of events. This module will provide the opportunity for you to develop your expertise in the awareness of design issues and topics in preparation for subsequent work and study. The work undertaken in the module will encourage a variety of communication methods and techniques related to the design process and current design ideas.  Students will attend a series of lectures based on a range of key topics and will take part in themed workshops. Practical site visits are included to explore a variety of venues and theatrical performance types and their relevant design/technical specifications.  Technical knowledge will include learning basic sound, lighting terminology, understanding power distribution and safety and stage management skills for events.</p>
