They must do this while meeting precise requirements – and working under often contradictory environmental pressures. Students will learn strategic and analytical, planning, control and review techniques – and practice them during the planning and implementation of a live event. They will choose and apply appropriate systems to improve operational effectiveness and decision making throughout the project management phases of a Live Event. Teaching will be via a week session of lectures followed by workshops and planning sessions with their mentors in groups. Week by week the groups will follow the project management phases in order to execute a Live Event. Throughout there will be an integrated approach, with strong links to other areas of the student’s programme such as Design and Events Technology.

Controlling the ‘event life-cycle’ is therefore the significant determinant of business success. As a result project management has evolved into a multi-disciplinary role that must consider human, legal, financial, marketing and technological influences and constraints if events are to be developed and run successfully.

Students will learn strategic and analytical, planning, control and review techniques – and practice them during the planning and implementation of a live event. They will choose and apply appropriate systems to improve operational effectiveness and decision making throughout the project management phases of a Live Event.

The methods used to achieve the course objectives will include the following:

Lectures supported by practical workshops will be used to allow students to develop their creativity, knowledge and practical skills.
Creation and delivery of a live event in small project teams, to be delivered in term two.
This module will be supported by guest speakers from the events industry and related fields.
Supporting material will be made available through the University’s VLE.

Description:1500 word Event planning and delivery. In a group the students follow all stages of event project management to create, plan, deliver and evaluate a Live Event. They are assessed in groups in their ability to plan and execute a Live Event by applying event project management techniques, tools and documents.
