Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module students will

Understand strategic concepts and different strategic management schools relating to service industries especially to air transport industries.
2.
Explain the strategic management process and strategy making tasks.
3.
Describe various techniques for undertaking industry and competitive analysis (e.g. PESTEL analysis).
4.
Make strategic choices (CSF, Ansoff and Boston Matrix) and build competitive advantage in the air transport sector.
5.
Understand the process of formulating a strategy, such as implementing strategic change and designing organizational structure.
6.
Critically analyse the competitive environment of any given airline or airport.

Apply strategic models to determine an aviation firm’s competitive position.

Re-configure the value chain and find a firm’s competitive advantage (Through Mergers & Acquisitions, Diversification, Alliances and other forms of (dis)integration).
