<p>The world faces a variety of contemporary environmental challenges. This module explores the extent to which Environmental Law provides an adequate and appropriate response to these challenges. It investigates the key debates on environmental law in its social and political context, examining the main principles, jurisdictions, actors, regulation, compliance and enforcement involved in environmental governance in England and Wales. This module introduces you to substantive legal regimes which apply concerning topics such as climate change, energy, waste, nature conservation and genetically modified organisms.</p>

Environmental Law

Effectively communicate tailored solutions to problems, arguments and analysis in a variety of forms within the context of environmental law.

Demonstrate an ability to critically evaluate and apply theoretical concepts, principles and rules of environmental law to complex legal problems and scenarios.

Demonstrate an ability to select, evaluate, critically analyse and use a wide range of appropriate and novel primary and secondary legal materials, with accurate legal referencing. 

Demonstrate a sustained analysis of potential arguments identifying synthesis and problem areas, and reaching clearly developed and pertinent conclusions.

Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of the specialist legal principles of environmental law, within relevant aspects of their social, institutional and cultural contexts.

Apply sustained critique of potential arguments, develop novel conclusions and identify synthesis and problem areas.
