demonstrate a wide range of historical knowledge relating to post-colonial India showing an in depth knowledge of its democratic experience. 

Understand and analyse different themes within Indian democracy like citizenship, secularism, and gender and critically compare and contrast them to the ‘Western’ experience. 

conduct a piece of detailed research and relate the findings of that research to the wider historical discipline.
