<p>This course provides you with an opportunity to engage in the process of practical and/or theoretical research at an advanced level and to plan and write a critical analysis of an area of drama/theatre/performance practice which reflects your individual academic and/or vocational interests. The dissertation will include an understanding of the intellectual, philosophical and societal contexts of the work, and an engagement with appropriate and relevant discourses.</p>

be able to have a knowledge of the process and practice of carrying out research and of using 
the findings to write an  effective, analytical dissertation, presented according to appropriate conventions.


be able to explain and defend their thesis orally.

be able to review and critically assess the relevant literature and other source material pertaining to the area of specialised study.


be able to carry through a sustained and self-motivated piece of academic work and communicate their findings effectively and appropriately.


be able to demonstrate a detailed knowledge of one area of Drama/Theatre/Performance in an 
academic and/or a vocational context, and in relation to current literature and/or practices.
