Students will learn through lectures, seminars and practical classes, as well as through directed activities in preparation for and following on from these sessions. Students’ individual work will be assessed in group workshops to reinforce learning experiences. Students will work in teams to further develop and enhance broadcasting and team skills.
Students’ learning will be supported by the use of the University’s VLE which will contain information about the module including relevant course documentation and supporting materials.
Outline Syllabus
The module will look at a variety of case studies in how video has been used innovatively in advertising, music, documentary and entertainment. Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module students will

be able to evaluate professional and technical choices when creating video, which build on recognised conventions and or challenge them to take account of new technologies.

be able to recognise creative video production techniques for a variety of platforms and outputs.
3.
be able to develop a critical understanding of the balance between creative output and production management for both a commercial and non-commercial product.

be able to manage short production budgets and treatments
5.
be able to produce video content suitable for a variety of different platforms
6.
be able to employ efficient production management and group working skills.

Assessment Criteria
The module will be graded in line with the University regulations. The assessment criteria will be those used by the Media, Journalism and Film subject area, designed in accordance with the appropriate Benchmark document, and made available to students in module handbooks and on assessment briefs.
