<p>Examining the particular contribution of international and transnational communication and media to processes of globalisation, this module allows you to explore the impact of globalisation and related processes such as deterritorialisation, localisation, standardisation and fragmentation on contemporary culture and societies.  As part of this investigation, you will critically reflect on established notions of culture and its territorial or collective focus such as the nation state. The module establishes the key conceptual approaches to cultural globalisation.</p>

be able to explore the cultural and political transformations constituting and resulting from cultural globalisation processes both globally and in specific local contexts.

be able to critically evaluate different conceptual approaches to the interplay of modernity, media, globalisation and culture.
