Assessment 1: Written assignment (coursework)

Formative assessment is ongoing and consists of analysis and critique of work, including peer and tutor feedback, research and interviews, with encouragement of students to reflect on their learning. Students will also be required to pitch their ideas for Assessment 2 for formative verbal and written feedback from both the module tutor and an industry guest.

An individual investigative journalism project, which can be submitted in written, audio or video form. Students will also be required to submit a data visualisation, illustrating one element of their research.

An essay, featuring an examination of classic and/or contemporary examples of investigative journalism.

<p>The module gives you an insight into the world of investigative journalism and will help you to develop the skills involved in successful investigations. You will learn about the history of investigative journalism, subject its activities to analysis and examine its specific techniques. Through a series of exercises, you will develop the skills that will be required to undertake an investigation of a contemporary subject.</p>
