<ul>
<li>Students normally aged at least 18 on the date of their enrolment onto the programme.</li>
<li>Successful completion of a High School Programme and at least involvement in a University or College Degree or Certificate of Higher Education or equivalent in their own country or elsewhere.  Full entry requirements are available on the ISC website. </li>
<li>An English level equivalent of 5.5 IELTS in all skills. Students with a lower level of English are able to complete a Language for Study programme of up to two terms in length to reach the level at which they can start their academic programme.</li>

Timed teacher assessments will be covered by exam regulations as detailed in the University of Huddersfield Regulations for Awards.
The required specified credits for each pathway need to be achieved to ensure progression. University of Huddersfield condonement regulations apply to this programme and can be found in the relevant section of the Regulation for Awards handbook.

Structure

Recognise the principles and practice of marketing and related functions in applicable organisational contexts.

Recognise how technology supports business operations.

Demonstrate the ability to competently use ICT for business communications.

Work effectively in an individual capacity which includes using initiative, time management and planning working independently towards targets and goals.

Have reading, writing, speaking and listening skills in English at equivalent of IELTS 6.0.

Recognise and appreciate the complexity of business organisations, resources and their management relevant to the specialised subject modules studied at first year degree level.

International Study Centre:
<ul>
<li>Course Assessment Board (CAB), chaired by the Centre Director meeting at the conclusion of the course for both the June and August finishing students to review and approve their overall marks and indicate those qualifying for a university transcript and progression.</li>
<li>Course Committee, Student Panel and student feedback at both module and programme level.</li>
<li>Regular meetings (at least semesterly) of all staff on the Programme with link tutors, International Liaison Officer (ILO), and Designated Academic Liaison Officer (DALO), supported by more formal ISC Course Committee.</li>
<li>The ISC will monitor student progress at the end of each term to review unit timed teacher assessments results and assessments from that term.</li>
<li>Annual staff appraisal by the centre management team, including teaching observations.</li>

The International Study Centre provides additional student support using a variety of approaches:
<ul>
<li>Student handbook incorporating a guide to the Certificate of Higher Education and made available before the start of the programme.</li>
<li>Induction programme on arrival for orientation and an introduction to the programme.</li>
<li>Introduction to the Student Central and other learning resources at the University of Huddersfield.</li>
<li>Favourable staff-student ratio, in seminar groups with additional access to lecture theatres and other specialist teaching rooms within the University.</li>
<li>Discrete Skills modules with an emphasis on the range of academic skills of particular relevance to undergraduate students.</li>
<li>All students to receive guidance from the Centre Director and/or Progress Coaches on academic issues and progression onto the second year of undergraduate degree courses at the University of Huddersfield.</li>
<li>ISC students are represented on the ISC Course Committee and can voice arising issued either with their Progress Coach, or through the student representatives who make up the Student Panel.</li>
<li>All students have an Academic Passport which requires them to undertake personal development planning that is monitored by their Progress Coach. They also undertake reflective learning on their development through the  Global Skills for Success module and Career Ahead.</li>
<li>The Centre has an on-site bespoke well-being service called U First accessible for all students.</li>
<li>Progress Coaches in place to support academic skills and wellbeing issues.</li>
<li>Welfare Officer supports with mid-level wellbeing and welfare issues.</li>
<li>Designated Safeguarding Lead in place to support with higher level welfare and safeguarding issues, including child protection for students under the age of 18.</li>
<li>Progress will be closely monitored each week via RPAG and formative trackers.</li>
<li>Where appropriate students may be required to attend module ‘booster’ classes or Supported Independent Study sessions.</li>
</ul>

A range of central facilities are provided to support students:

<li>Student Services that provides specialist advice, to both HEU and OS students, in the areas of counselling, well-being, disability support, pastoral care, prayer and religious facilities, accommodation, finance, Job Shop, careers and visa renewal.</li>
<li>The Library provides induction and ongoing learning support.</li>
<li>The International Office provides additional support, for example maintaining links with sponsors.</li>
