<ul>
<li>Students normally aged at least 17 on the date of their enrolment onto the course.</li>
<li>Successful completion of a High School Programme of study or elsewhere on an agreed and circulated list. Full entry requirements are available on the ISC website. </li>
<li>A relevant English level equivalent to at least 4.5 IELTS. Students with a lower level of English are able to complete a Language for Study programme of up to two terms in length to reach the level at which they can start their academic programme.</li>
</ul>

<p>120 credits need to be achieved to ensure progression.  University of Huddersfield condonement regulations do not apply to this programme. Details of the assessment schedule and outcomes assessed for each module are provided in the module specification documents, which are also available in the Student Module Handbook on the VLE.</p>

Structure

Use initiative, begin to think creatively and exercise limited evaluative judgment in assessing ideas

Read, write and speak English at equivalent of IELTS 6.0.

Work in collaboration with others, both with tutors and in groups with other students.

Apply knowledge and understanding to problems and issues arising from both familiar and unfamiliar situations.

Collect, interpret and analyse both quantitative and qualitative data.

Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the fundamental concepts, principles and terminology relating to the subject area specified content.

Demonstrate and exercise some independence of mind and thought and organise independent learning in a structured and managed environment.

Communicate accurately and reliably both orally and in writing, using appropriate terms and vocabulary in the appropriate context, in both discussions and written responses.

<li>Course Assessment Board (CAB), chaired by the Head of Centre meeting at the conclusion of the course for both the June and August finishing students to review and approve their overall marks and indicate those qualifying for a university transcript and progression</li>
<li>Course Committee, Student Panel and student feedback at both module and programme level</li>
<li>Regular Meetings (at least termly) of all staff on the Programme, supported by more formal ISC Course Committee meetings.</li>
<li>Informal ISC Module Assessment Board (MAB) at the end of each term to review module timed teacher assessment results and coursework assessments from that term.</li>
<li> Annual staff appraisal by the centre management to include classroom observation.</li>
<li> Formal staff induction process and annual Training Day.</li>
<li> Liaison between the Head of Centre, the ILO, DALO and Link Tutors from the University of Huddersfield.</li>

<p>All ISC courses are associated with the Business School for QA purposes and operate under standard QA procedures, with communication channels through Academic Link Tutors, the ILO/DALO and the Course Committee:</p>
<ul>
<li>Proposed course changes are discussed at the Course Committee and then a proposal made to the Business School SAVP. </li>
<li>Teaching staff are proposed by the Head of Centre and their CVs submitted to the Business School for consideration. Where necessary, the Business School will draw upon the expertise of colleagues from the appropriate school for final approval.</li>
<li>Student feedback is elicited through Student Panels, termly and end-of-year questionnaires, then collated by the Course Committee, on which there is also student representation.</li>
<li>The Centre hold its own CABs, using ASIS to record and process results, and produces Annual Evaluation Reports that are considered by a specially convened panel in the Business School, then routed to UTLC. Annual Evaluation Report actions are monitored as per University of Huddersfield regulations and through the Course Committee.</li>
</ul>

<li>Student handbook, incorporating a guide to the Foundation Year programme and made available before the start of the course</li>
<li>Induction programme on arrival for orientation and an introduction to the Programme of study.</li>
<li>Introduction to the ISC, Student Central and other learning resources at the University of Huddersfield</li>
<li>Favourable staff-student ratio in seminar groups with additional access to lecture theatres and other specialist teaching rooms within the University</li>
<li>Discrete language and skills modules with an emphasis on the range of academic skills of particular relevance to undergraduate students</li>
<li>All students to receive guidance from the centre management team and/or Progress Coaches on academic issues and progression onto their degree courses at the University of Huddersfield</li>
<li>ISC students are represented on the ISC Course Committee and can voice arising issued either with their Progress Coach, or through the student representatives who make up the Student Panel</li>
<li>All students have an Academic Passport which requires them to undertake personal development planning that is monitored by their Progress Coach. They also undertake an individual learning plans (ILP) in AES, which is monitored by their tutor, and reflective learning on their development through the PLTS module and Career Ahead</li>
<li>The Centre has an on-site bespoke well-being service called U First accessible for all students</li>
