There are two routes for entry onto this course:
Direct route:
*   An Honours degree (2:2 or above) or equivalent qualification in any discipline.
Performance Based Admissions (PBA) Route:
This distance learning course offers a PBA admissions entry route, based on the successful completion of a 20-credit short course as detailed below:
<ul>
<li>September: Short Course - <a href="https://courses.hud.ac.uk/part-time/postgraduate/fundamentals-of-management-distance-learning">Fundamentals of Management</a> (successful completion would permit entry to the May intake of the full MSc)</li>
<li>January: Short Course - <a href="https://courses.hud.ac.uk/part-time/postgraduate/strategic-management-distance-learning">Strategic Management </a>(successful completion would permit entry to the September intake of the full MSc)</li>
<li>May: Short Course - <a href="https://courses.hud.ac.uk/part-time/postgraduate/fundamentals-of-leadership-distance-learning">Fundamentals of Leadership</a> (successful completion would permit entry to the January intake of the full MSc)</li>
</ul>
You must pass the short course on your first full attempt to be considered for entry to the full MSc programme. Once the credits have been confirmed, you will be invited to apply for the full course at the next available entry point. The Short Course will then be considered as accreditation of prior learning (APL) as part of the full MSc application.
For either route, if your first language is not English, you will need to meet the minimum requirements, the following are accepted:

<li>The <a href="https://englishtest.duolingo.com/applicants">Duolingo English test</a> with a score of 105 or above.</li>
<li>An updated experience statement to also include ‘work’: Where you have studied in an English-speaking country, worked for an English-speaking company, or have a UK degree - this proof is accepted within two years of passing as meeting the English Language requirements.</li>
<li>IELTS 6.0 overall with no element lower than 5.5, or an equivalent qualification.</li>

The School is committed to comprehensive student engagement and works actively with the University of Huddersfield Student Union to support this through the student representative system
Within the School students are represented at committee level from Student Panels to the School Board. Individual feedback on the quality and standards of teaching and learning is received through module and course evaluations.
An effective external examination system is managed by Registry and all reports are viewed at University, School and course levels.  External examiner and student feedback, as well as all statistical data about the course, is reported through the course committee structure and scrutinised through the University wide annual evaluation process.

This programme specification document provides a concise summary of the main features of the Suite and the Learning Outcomes that a typical student might reasonably be expected to achieve and demonstrate if he/she takes full advantage of the learning opportunities that are provided.  More detailed information on the Learning Outcomes, content and teaching, learning and assessment methods of each module can be found in the module study guide and course handbook.

Each course has a named course leader, normally based on the subject area, who has responsibility for the smooth operation of the course. The course leaders are also available for academic support, as are module leaders and other teaching staff. All members of staff have regular office hours when students are encouraged to seek any help they need.

The Distance Learning Unit (DLU) serves as the first-line support function for students enrolled on our DL courses. As the initial point of contact, the DLU addresses a wide range of enquiries, guiding students to the correct function within existing support structures. For technical issues, such as difficulties accessing course materials or platform functionalities, the DLU directs learners to our dedicated IT support team, ensuring that technical challenges are resolved efficiently and do not impede the learning process. Additionally, recognising the importance of holistic student welfare, the DLU plays a pivotal role in connecting students with appropriate student support services for more pastoral needs. This may include guidance on accessing counselling services, mental health resources, or academic skills support. By effectively triaging and addressing diverse student needs, the DLU fosters an inclusive and supportive online educational environment, enabling students to focus on their academic goals with confidence and assurance.
The Learning Innovation and Development Centre (LIDC) provides students with support in understanding and using information and resources around their course and modules. LIDC supports students’ understanding, helping them follow assignment briefs and manage time and processes to produce work efficiently and effectively. LIDC supports students in their oral presentations and writing using academic business English in a professional manner. Students will be introduced to LIDC at induction, and they will be given further support and development in academic skills throughout the course of their study. 
The school’s Student Guidance and Support provides pastoral services to students and support with any non-academic issues that may be affecting their ability to study. The team offers practical advice and support on a wide range of issues, such as Extenuating Circumstances and Extension requests, signposting and directing students to relevant university, school, and course level services. 
Students within Huddersfield Business School are allocated a Personal Academic Tutor (PAT), which gives students timetabled hours with their personal tutor throughout the academic year. This system is designed to be skills and learning focussed, to help them achieve their academic potential, and can provide guidance towards the most appropriate additional support as appropriate.
