The specific entry requirements and admission criteria for the course are detailed below:
The admission of an individual student is subject to a reasonable expectation that the student will be able to fulfil the learning outcomes of the course and achieve the standard required for the award. For this reason, the entry requirements are a 2:2 honours degree in one of the named disciplines in this Masters suite (English; History; Creative Writing; Media, Journalism and Film) or a cognate subject. 
If you were educated outside the UK, you are required to have International English LanguageTesting System (IELTS) at a score of 7.0 with a minimum score of 6.5 in any single component due to the discursive nature of the discipline and length of written assignments. If you have alternative qualifications or do not meet the IELTS requirement we also offer a range of <a href="http://www.hud.ac.uk/international/pre-sessionalenglishprogramme/">Pre-Sessional English Programmes.</a>
The normal expectation is that the student will be at least 18 years of age by 30 September in the academic year of entry. Interviews are not required for admission, but the normal expectation would be for an online or in-person meeting with a course or admissions tutor to discuss the expected standards of the course.

All modules include formative assessment, acting as a scaffold towards the summative assessment. Constructive feedback will be provided via Turnitin and face-to-face. Students will be assigned an experienced Personal Academic Tutor, with whom they will meet regularly. Induction will include a skills self-assessment to help Tutors direct students to appropriate sources of support. This includes the Library and Academic Skills Tutors. For major pieces of work such as the Major Project, one-to-one supervisions in addition to workshops will tailor support. Practical skills support makes use of services across the University, including the Enterprise team. Teaching will be timetabled in suitable spaces. Tutors will advertise when they are available for meetings with regular office hours and an automatic consultation booking systems. Tutors on the suite will either be experienced teachers or mentored by experienced course and module leaders. They will make reasonable adjustments to teaching, learning and assessment in line with Personal Learning Support Plans.
