If you were educated outside the UK, you are required to have International English Language Testing System (IELTS) at a score of 6.0 with a minimum score of 6.0 in writing and a minimum of 5.5 in any single component. For the MSc Cyber Security and Digital Forensics with Placement course, the minimum for IELTS is 7.0 overall with 6.5 in any single component. MSc Cyber Security and Digital Forensics:
<ul>
<li>An Honours degree (2:2 or above) in Computing or a related subject or an equivalent professional qualification.</li>
<li>Other qualifications and/or experience that demonstrate appropriate knowledge and skills equivalent to Honours degree level.</li>
<li>Substantial (3 years) relevant industry experience.</li>
</ul>

The PgCert Cyber Security and Digital Forensics
The PgCert Cyber Security and Digital Forensics consists of a 60-credit taught programme in which students must acquire the following credits: any four 15-credit modules.
The PgDip Cyber Security and Digital Forensics
The PgDip Cyber Security and Digital Forensics consists of a taught programme in which students must acquire 120 credits from the following combination of modules: all eight 15-credit modules required or any four 15-credit modules plus project.

Synthesise a range of information and data from a variety of sources within CS & DF.

Have a critical understanding of the advanced concepts underpinning the fields of CS & DF, including: various tools, techniques and methods, best practices, legal framework, and the expected level of ethical, legal and professional responsibilities in CS & DF.

Effectively utilise the theoretical concepts, techniques and tools in the context of CS and DF.

Be a self-critical learner who recognises one’s development needs and continues to develop new skills to a high level and who can guide the learning of others.

Have a systematic understanding of current research topics in CS and DF methods and techniques.

Demonstrate a sound knowledge of professional ethics in the context of CS and DF and legal issues arising from any project and the decisions required to resolve them.

Develop ability to identify, acquire, preserve and analyse digital evidence in a forensically-sound manner, and present it in a systematic manner as a chain of evidence admissible in a court of law.

Critically evaluate, synthesise and apply the knowledge of various tools, techniques and best practices to identify, acquire and analyse digital evidence, and produce Expert Witness reports which articulate technical analysis to a non-expert audience.

Communicate complex ideas confidently in both written and oral forms to technical and non-technical audience and report on actions clearly and autonomously.

Acquire a critical understanding of the roles and applications of cryptographic and artificial intelligence techniques in CS and DF.

Plan and undertake research tasks competently with minimum guidance, and sift through information clatter to identify relevance, organise and present information effectively.

Demonstrate advanced problem-solving and evaluation skills, and critical judgement in the selection and use of various tools and techniques in dealing with Computer Security related issues both systematically and creatively.

Demonstrate independent research skills, plan and execute an advanced project themed in CS or DF and report on it.

Work effectively within a group, clarify tasks and make appropriate use of group members’ abilities, negotiate and handle conflict with confidence.

Utilise various skills to solve complex problems independently and use a wide range of learning resources to conduct literature reviews and engage in research activities.

Be able to rationalise the principles for secure network, information and computer systems and contemporary approaches to deliver these.

<ul>
<li>The School Teaching and Learning Committee, a sub-committee of the University Teaching and Learning Committee, is tasked with implementing the University’s teaching and learning strategy and with fostering innovation in teaching and learning and the dissemination of good practice</li>
<li>The School Board, via the School Teaching and Learning Committee has responsibility for implementing University policy through school-defined procedures.</li>
<li>Periodic school and subject reviews take place on a rolling quinquennial programme and focus inter alia on the arrangements for quality management and enhancement, teaching, learning and assessment, C&amp;IT strategies, the articulation and assurances of standards, external examiner reports and evaluation and links with professional bodies, employers and other external organisations.</li>
<li>The Course Committee is responsible for the monitoring and development of the course or programme, taking account of feedback from staff, students and external examiners. Feedback is sought as follows:
<ul>
<li>From students through annual course and module evaluation questionnaires.</li>
<li>From external examiners through annual reports, course assessment board minutes, assessment moderation reports and informal verbal communication during the year.</li>
<li>The annual evaluation of the course/programme is the responsibility of the School Board. The Course Committee prepares an annual evaluation report comprising reporting and evaluation, informed by feedback from staff, students and external examiners and by statistical data.</li>
</ul>

<li>Amendments to course/programme and module documents are validated by the School Accreditation and Validation Panel.</li>
<li>A process for peer observation of teaching is in place with the object of enhancing teaching practice and sharing ideas between staff.</li>

The latest subject review for the subject area that includes this course took place in January 2021. The panel commended the subject area for, among others, the strong links with industry which offers clear benefits for students and the ambitious plans for curriculum development.

At course level support is provided as follows:

<li>Supporting documentation is provided, online, in the form of Student Handbooks, Module Handbooks, Programme Specification Documents (PSD) and Module Specification Documents (MSD).</li>
<li>The Course Leader is available to provide guidance on academic progress.</li>
<li>Module tutors are available to help with academic problems during term time, either on campus or through electronic means such as Microsoft Teams, to facilitate support for distance learning students.</li>
<li>All modules and year groups are supported on the Virtual Learning Environment.</li>
