If applicants have alternative qualifications or do not meet the IELTS requirement the University also offers a range of <a href="http://www.hud.ac.uk/international/pre-sessionalenglishprogramme/">Pre-Sessional English Programmes</a>
The University’s general minimum entry requirements are specified in Section D of the <a href="https://www.hud.ac.uk/policies/registry/awards-taught/section-d/">Regulations for Awards</a>  (copied below).

<li>A reasonable expectation that the student will be able to fulfil the learning outcomes of the course and achieve the standard required for the award.</li>
<li>The general requirements for the award to which the course leads.</li>
<li>The regulations for the particular course of study, which will describe the knowledge and skills required for admission</li>
<li>Evidence of personal, professional and educational experiences that provide indications of ability to meet the demands of the course.</li>
<li>The normal expectation that the student will be at least 18 years of age by 30 September in the academic year of entry.</li>

  Entry Requirements
 The specific entry requirements and admission criteria for the courses are detailed below:        
<ol>
<li>Applicants should have a first or second-class honours degree or postgraduate qualification.        Applicants with a third class honours degree, ordinary degree or with no degree may still apply but will be asked to evidence their ability to work successfully at level 7. Please refer to 16.4. for further details.</li>
<li>In addition to criteria 1 above, applicants who work for Ruskin Mill Trust must have successfully completed at least one of the Ruskin Mill Trust Professional Development Programmes.                                Applicants will be asked to present their learning outcomes from participation on one of these programmes at interview.</li>
<li>Applicants must have at least two years of full-time equivalent experience of working in the field of education and/or Special Education.</li>
<li>Applicants must be working in a role and/or setting to which they can apply their learning on the programme. This work must be for a minimum of one day per week, for at least 30 weeks of the year.</li>
<li>Applicants from overseas who are speakers of English as a second language must have an IELTS score of at least 6.0 with no element lower than 5.5. or a TOEFL IBT score of 80 or above</li>
</ol>
Applicants without a degree may still apply for the programme by demonstrating their ability to study at this level due to their experience or via other types of evidence. Applicants will be asked to demonstrate ability to produce work of an appropriate practical and/or academic standard in all or some of the following ways:
<ul>
<li>At interview.</li>
<li>By providing evidence of e.g. authoring a journal article or other high quality publication; holding an NVQ or other level 5 or above qualification.</li>
<li>By producing a portfolio of evidence that might include for example copies of presentations, reports or projects undertaken in current or previous employment.</li>
<li>By demonstrating production of high quality documentation, processes, systems or activities in a workplace environment.</li>
<li>By completing an example assignment</li>
</ul>
Enhanced DBS check
All who are accepted on the programme must have a current Enhanced DBS Certificate.  The Ruskin Mill Trust Human Resources Department will help to obtain this.

Critically analyse the relationship between practice and theory within PSTE.

Systematically and creatively investigate the potential of PSTE to address barriers to learning and enable positive outcomes for learners.

Critically evaluate PSTE in relation to other education, Special Education and/or therapeutic providers.

Present well-constructed submissions for assessment that critically evaluate current research and scholarship in the field of study.

Demonstrate a deep and systematic understanding of the philosophical, theoretical and practical perspectives that underpin and inform PSTE.

Critically evaluate the Seven Fields of Practice as an interrelated repertoire of educational theories and practices. 

Employ a range of individual and collaborative reflective and reflexive approaches to analyse your own professional practice and/or context in light of your experience of the programme and to identify opportunities for personal and professional development.

Systematically and creatively examine a topic via robust research and present findings in an evaluative and well-argued manner that adheres to academic conventions.

Demonstrate self-leadership by managing course workload, deadlines and work/study balance.

Apply learning on the programme to own and/or other professional settings and practices.

Critique PSTE in relation to other relevant philosophical and educational paradigms, perspectives and approaches. 

Demonstrate critical awareness of the contemporary national (including policy and inspection frameworks) and global contexts in relation to PSTE.

Ruskin Mill Centre for Practice: 
Will adhere to the University of Huddersfield’s Quality Assurance Procedures ensuring that end of module and end of course feedback is collected.
<ul>
<li>Feedback collected by course representatives will be discussed at Course Boards. The course response will be fed back to participants. Any actions will be monitored.</li>
<li>The actions agreed at Course Boards will be taken to the RMCP Academic Board.</li>
<li>Team meetings will be scheduled to plan for forthcoming modules, review completed modules: organisation, delivery, assessment design and participant achievement.</li>
<li>Team assessment meetings will discuss the assessment process and will do comparison assessment. A conjoined approach to writing feedback will be discussed.</li>
<li>Assessment results will be monitored and discussed at the RMCP termly Academic Board.</li>

RMCP will adhere to all University of Huddersfield quality processes and procedures
Feedback from course participants will be systematically collected and addressed at Course Boards, the Academic Board. 
University of Huddersfield Annual Academic Monitoring procedures will ensure that course feedback is used to improve the quality of the course and the participant experience.

One to one support from a Learning Advisor (via Video Conference) 
The Independent Learning Advisor can provide the following:

<li>Impartial and objective support from an experienced academic who is not a member of RMCP</li>
<li>One to one support with the design and development of submissions for assessment</li>
<li>Guidance on strategies for those with learning differences</li>
<li>(Indicative) diagnosis of dyslexia, dyspraxia and other learning differences</li>
<li>Strategies for managing anxiety and stress related concerns</li>
<li>Guidance through the process of retrieving unsuccessful submissions</li>
</ul>
RMCP Course Level
<ul>
<li>Development of study skills is embedded in the programme</li>
<li>There will be opportunities for feedback from tutors on work in progress (formative feedback)</li>
<li>Tutorials with the course team will be available every term.</li>
<li>Assignment feedback on submissions (summative feedback) will identify the strengths of the work but will also indicate aspects for development in future submissions.  </li>
