If you are thinking about applying for a place on this course you should be aware that this course is accredited by the College of Policing as a degree to support (but not guarantee) subsequent employment as a police officer in England and Wales.
 
Students who wish to join a police force, following successful completion of this programme, will need to meet the specific attributes required for admission to the chosen police service. Potential students will be directed towards information provided by the College of Policing relating to standards and recruitment processes, including nationality and residency status, which will be useful at the point of application to a police force.
 
          If you were educated outside the UK, you are required to have International English Language Testing System (IELTS) at a score of 6.0 with a minimum score of 6.0 in writing and a minimum of 5.5 in any single component. If you have alternative qualifications or do not meet the IELTS requirement we also offer a range of <a href="http://www.hud.ac.uk/international/pre-sessionalenglishprogramme/">Pre-Sessional English Programmes.</a>

<li>Mature students and those with non-standard qualifications will be expected to</li>

                demonstrate the potential for successfully completing degree level work. This will normally take the form of an appropriate Access or similar qualification but exceptionally students will be permitted to enter the course because they can convince admissions tutors of their capacity for advanced study. This will normally be achieved through a conditional offer being made, subject to the successful completion of the summer school programme which prepares students for further study. The University encourages applications from non-school and college leavers. We recognise that some applicants will offer a range of experience and perhaps non-traditional qualifications, which will be taken into account when the application is considered.
