However, the specific entry requirements and admission criteria for this course are detailed below.
Entry requirements for all awards within the course fall within the regulations of the University of Huddersfield and the School of Human and Health Sciences. 
 Mature students and those with non-standard qualifications will be expected to demonstrate the potential for successfully completing degree level work. This will normally take the form of an appropriate Access or similar qualification but exceptionally students will be permitted to enter the course because they can convince admissions tutors of their capacity for advanced study. This will normally be achieved through a conditional offer being made, subject to the successful completion of the Summer School programme which prepares students for further study.
In admitting students to the course, as in other respects, the course will conform to the University’s equal opportunities policy. 
For a long period of time, the suite of Sociology courses has had international appeal, successfully recruiting from countries across the world and enabling students to study at their home institution and at the University of Huddersfield. With the help of the International Office, there are number of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) and approved syllabus matching arrangements in place that are reviewed on a regular basis.

Identify the practical implications of theory and research from sociology in a variety of contexts, including ethical issues. 

Critically evaluate sociological research and research methods in explanations of issues and phenomena relating to human behaviour and society. 

Work independently and in collaboration with others, managing their own learning and making use of scholarly reviews and primary sources (for example, refereed research articles and/or original materials appropriate to the study of human behaviour and society).

Gather, retrieve and synthesise information from within social science and other appropriate sources. 

Assess the merits of competing theories in the social sciences. 

Apply sociological methods and techniques to review, consolidate, extend and apply their knowledge and understanding and to initiate and carry out projects in the analysis and explanation of human behaviour and society. 

Accurately deploy established techniques of analysis and enquiry within sociology. 

Devise, conduct and report on research and critically evaluate social sciences research methods and the resulting data. 

Explore ways that sociological knowledge can be used across a variety of professional contexts in public, private, and third sector organisations, both national and international.

Personal Academic Tutor
The University has implemented a personal academic tutor system for full time undergraduate students.  This system aims to both improve the student experience of learning and teaching, and increase student retention and achievement rates. Specifically personal academic tutors:
<ul>
<li>Provide a personal contact for the student within the University and the School.</li>
<li>Act as a liaison between the student and course leaders to seek any improvements required</li>
<li>Offer guidance, assistance and support in managing the students’ academic experience</li>
<li>Recognise when the problems presented are beyond the personal tutors’ competence and seek guidance and support for the student through the University and/or School referral processes.</li>
<li>Work with students to review and reflect upon their own progress and if necessary on ways to improve it.</li>
<li>Take part in supportive training events.</li>
</ul>
Module Leader
The module leader is responsible for teaching, learning and assessment of the modules within this course.
Course Leader
The course leader is responsible for the entire quality assurance arrangements for the course. All students are provided with a handbook giving all relevant information for the course. This is updated annually.
Peer Mentoring 
A peer mentor scheme in the social sciences is well established and runs across the Criminology and Sociology suite courses. This scheme utilises Year 2 and 3 students to support the learning experience of year 1 entrants to the course and is linked through the personal tutor system, the Personal Academic Tutor Module and within HFI1005 Sociological Inquiry.
Study Abroad Opportunities
Context
In the second year of the provision, students have the opportunity to study abroad. The University has a number of Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) across the world. On a competitive, yearly basis, students have the chance to apply for the exchange programme. The application process comprises of an application and an academic interview. 
Administration Process 
When the students have been selected by the host country, an individualised curriculum alignment process will be undertaken. This will be achieved by the completion of an Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL) agreement form, and the key stakeholders who are involved in these processes are as follows:
