The University’s policy for Admission is outlined in Section 1 of the Regulations for Awards Handbook (<a href="https://www.hud.ac.uk/policies/registry/awards-taught/">https://www.hud.ac.uk/policies/registry/awards-taught/</a>). In addition to the standard University requirements candidates could be from a variety of backgrounds, encompassing NVQs, AVCEs (Advanced Vocational Certificate of Education), AS and A2 Levels, BTEC and those who have pursued professional accountancy qualifications in the past.  Applications from mature students would be welcomed and some evidence of recent study or relevant work experience would be sought.
A pass at GCSE at or above grade C (or equivalent) in Mathematics and English would normally be required although this could be waived where other evidence of students’ abilities in these areas exist.
Direct entry onto the second or final year of the programme would be possible for suitably qualified applicants.
Overseas applicants will be required to demonstrate proficiency in English. This requirement will normally be met by a TOEFL score of 550, and IELTS score of 6, or equivalent.

Structure

Different professional accountancy bodies have differing requirements to obtain exemptions:
Association of Chartered Certified Accountants( ACCA) recognises the module pass mark set by the university. Exemptions are not awarded on the basis of a condoned pass.
Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) requires that each module has a pass mark of at least 40% and that compensation for elements of asssessment within units is limited to 35% in the failed element.
Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) require a minimum mark of 50% in all modules.
The above requirements apply to modules relevant to the professional bodies exempting papers/credit.Further details can be found in the Course Handbook and on the Course Unilearn site.

Identify the users of financial information, from within and without organisations, and prepare financial statements and other reports suitable for presentation thereto. (F/I/H)

Identify, collect and work with information provided in numerical or statistical form. (F/I/H)

Demonstrate an ability to critically assess alternative theories and approaches in relation to accountancy and finance. (H)

Demonstrate a sound understanding of the role of information technology and information systems within organisations. (I)

Demonstrate a sound knowledge of the basic concepts of accountancy and legal and business frameworks. (F)

Professional and Statutory Bodies: The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) ,The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA),The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) and the Association of International Accountants (AIA)have also reviewed the course documentation and have awarded significant levels of exemption against their professional examinations (the maximum possible for ACCA).
